Over the last 10 years we have completed 80+ projects to BNSF Specifications. These projects include fuel transfer facilities, wastewater treatment systems, platforms, sanding stations, intermodal yards, roundhouses, railcar unload facilities, and major track modifications/repairs. We are very familiar with BNSF requirements, standards for design, and railroad construction. Recently Sitts & Hill Engineers, Inc. was hired to complete structural engineering in support of two new fuel transfer facilities, both located in Wyoming. The scope of work for each site included a secondary spill containment pit under the track in the event the rail tank was overfilled. Electrical equipment included transformer pads, cold weather electrical rooms and power and data conduit. Concrete pads were installed for the pump support and piping racks were installed for the conduit support. The re-fueling area was protected from the weather with a canopy which also covered the catwalk and stair tower which was also constructed with a fall protection system. Adjacent live tracks had to stay in operation during the entire construction.
